Back Pain

Symptoms, Casues & Treatments

Description & Symptoms

Back pain is one of the more common personal injuries and it is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide. It is important to take proper action to prevent back pain, and treat back pain as soon as it occurs. Symptoms of back pain include shooting or stabbing pain, radiating pain, muscle aches, pain when bending, standing, waling and/or lifting and limited mobility. When left untreated, chronic back pain can cause bladder problems and depression.

Causes

Back pain stems from a variety of causes that can be acute or chronic. Some patients might have a back injury such as a pinched nerve caused by a pulled muscle or ligament. Other temporary injuries might include a bulging, herniated or dislocated disc. Other patients may have discomfort from repetitive motions or just overworking the muscles in the back.

Treatments

One of our staple treatments that help most patients is spinal alignment, also known as a chiropractic adjustment or spinal adjustment. This particular treatment consists of our chiropractor manipulating the vertebrae in the spine using a small amount of force. It realigns the vertebrae with the discs to reduce the pressure on the muscles, soft tissue and nerves surrounding the spinal cord.

Me might also perform spinal decompression, which consist of our chiropractor using a motorized or manual device to stretch the spine, so an injured disc may heal more effectively without the pressure of the vertebrae on it.

*This treatment should not be taken as medical advice, and you should consult a chiropractor for evaluation before treatment begins.
